We are still looking for someone to play permanently in goal for the rest of the season as the keeper we had last season has disappeared. We also need some fresh blood in the form of players on the right side of 40 or who have just under and can play on Sunday mornings. It is proving difficult to go to matches with 13 players every week and injuries are already beginning to make things difficult for us.

Report:
The Merton boys could have considered themselves a little unlucky as they went down 1-2 to OLD HAMPTONIANS from the division above. However the same failings once more manifested themselves as the Merton lads failed to capitalise on some very well made chances. On a pitch that became increasingly waterlogged and muddy during a heavy downpour, and in a severe gale, the boys strung together some fine football and were unlucky not to go into half time with a deserved lead. Indeed it was hard to tell which team was from the higher division as MERTON matched the opposition in every department. However like the week before they conceded two quick goals. Credit to the boys though for not letting their heads drop as they rallied strongly and laid siege to the Hampton goal creating chance after chance before finally pulling one back, but it was too little too late. They really need to improve the quality of their crosses, and show cooler heads in front of goal, then they will have the makings of a good team for the rest of the season.

25th November
Merton Vets 1 - 4 Merton Manor (League) (Home)
Scorer: Magnanti
Report: Merton vets had only themselves to blame as they crashed to a heavy 4-1 defeat at the hands of MERTON MANOR.
Not playing a game for three consecutive Sundays really showed as the Merton boys found it difficult to get going on a heavy pitch. Two quick goals in the space of two minutes effectively killed the game as a contest, though to be fair, Merton roused themselves and ended the half strongly and had Jonny Magnanti playing up front, tucked away a relatively easy chance just before the break then the outcome may have been completely different. The second half started like the first with Merton seemingly still in the dressing room as they conceded a goal from a corner in the first five minutes. Slack marking again was a factor for the oppositions fourth. A routine cross falling to the feet of their striker in acres of space with enough time to calmly pick his spot.A late rally then ensued which could (and should) have changed the whole game as Merton scored a consolation goal followed by a whole hatful of chances. There was also a fine debut from new signing Adrian .  On another day this result could have been totally different.
30th September
