13th January Merton Womens 2 -1 Tooting & Mitcham (League) (Away) Scorers: Fatty 2 Report: Merton Ladies grinded out a fanatic result against inform Tooting and Mitcham United. Tooting and Mitcham having only lost once all season in the league were in for quite a surprise when Merton turn up and perform their best game this season and won 2.1. In the first half it was a very even game with both teams cancelling each other out and little goal action for either side. It had to take something special for the break to happen and Fatty was the player to provide it. Fatty who hasn’t played since November and has been badly missed won the ball and with her tricky skill, got passed three players before shooting from just outside the area scoring a great goal making it 1.0 to Merton Ladies. Shortly after going 1.0 Fatty with her tricky skill again won a free kick from just outside the area and scored again directly from the free kick making it 2.0 to Merton. This rattled Tooting and Mitcham and were very eager to get back in the game. They put on more pressure on the defence but the defence stayed strong with the fullbacks Emma Peason and Katie Nash who both had a tremendous game keeping their very talented wingers quiet. Merton held on to the two goal lead until half time and were very happy with their 1st half performance. Tooting and Mitcham came out in the second half and were determined to get back into the game. They up their paste and were rewarded shortly after the start of the second half with some good play down the right and a good finished by one of their midfield players breaking though the middle making it 2.1 to Merton. Tooting and Mitcham continued to battle on with a desire to get that second goal but Merton stayed strong with everyone on the team putting in a hundred percent. Tooting and Mitcham tried everything to get another goal. They were switching the wingers every 10 minutes, changing their strikers and tackling hard. But they could not get though Merton’s defence who were excellent throughout the game as well as safe hands keeper Ali who picked up every though ball and did two good saves from powerful shots. The home team didn’t have it all in the Second half. Merton created some good chances with Nugget narrowing missing the goal from a long range effort and Muffy taking up some outstanding positions and putting in some brilliant crosses into the box, but no one was there to get the third goal for Merton. It became a very tense last 10 minutes with Tooting and Mitcham throwing everything at Merton. However Merton continued to stay strong and won the game 2.1. A deserved win for Merton Ladies with some outstanding individual performances.
18th November Merton Womens 3 -1 London United (League) (Home) Scorers: Muffy Report: ‘Muffy’s Threesome’ On one of the coldest, wettest, depressing Sunday afternoons at Joseph Hood Merton pulled off a great victory against a new look London United side featuring former Merton striker Anna Smith. After letting Ms Smith sneak the first goal early on, Merton soon took control of the match. Muffy was excellent once again and her efforts were rewarded with her first hat trick of the season. So despite the miserable conditions it was a great team effort and has set the women back to winning ways with a bitterly cold 3-1 victory.

17th September Merton 4 - 1 The Falcons (League) (Home) Scorers: Fatty 2, Anna 2 Report: Merton got their league campaign off to a flying start on Sunday with a hard fought 4 – 1 victory over old favourites The Falcons. The game was played in Great Spirit, and despite the score line was a closely fought contest. Falcons keeper must take heavy praise however with some top class saves from the Merton front women. However Merton can also applaud themselves after another all round team effort. Special mention to debutant Jane at right back who had a stormer! However, our undisputed POM went to Fatty who had a tremendous game in the centre of the park and bagged two goals. Anna netted the other two, which has hoisted Merton straight to the top of the League. With the passion and grit we showed on Sunday there is no reason why we shouldn’t stay there! Emma Pearson
24th September Merton 5 - 2 London United (league) (Home) Scorers: Fatty 3, Katie, Claudette Report: The women are top of the league after a hard fought victory over London United. With a few late dropouts we were forced to start with ten but pulled together in an open game with a new look team and bagged the points. Goals from Claudette, Katie and Fatty hat trick secured our place at the top if the table. Another fine team performance especially after losing Nick with a broken collarbone on the hour. The remaining 9 women battled on, great debut out of goal for Ali and also Kate at left back. Another strong display at right back from Jane and the confidence growing Claudette on the left wing. Jen controlled her area superbly and Fatty was immense in midfield again. However PoM was shared between Katie and Pete both controlling the midfield and proving the key to Merton’s victory. Lots of get-well wishes go from all of us to Nick and wish her a speedy recovery. Thanks to Frank and the boys for reffing and running line at the last minute and thanks once again to our ever-increasing fan club and cheerleaders!! Emma Pearson

22nd October Merton 5 - 3 Tooting & Mitcham (League) (Home) Scorers: Fatty, Muffy 2, Katie 2 Report: Merton Women back to winning ways after a 5-3 victory over local opposition Tooting and Mitcham United. A great team effort in wet and wild conditions put Merton within three points from the top of the table. Our brand (see through when kit) new kit and goals from Fatty, Muffy (2), Katie (2) helped Merton overcome a young, competitive Tooting side. POM went to Muffy for a tireless display up front, despite not having been to bed...Well done everyone - keep it up!! Emma
29th October Merton 7 - 2 Flamingoes (League) (Away) Scorers: Fatty 3, Muffy 2, Mel, katie Report: Merton beat top of the table and previously unbeaten Flamingos in an amazing 7-2 goal fest on Sunday. Despite the shocking head injury to Mel with 20 minutes to go, the women pulled out another great team performance to hoist them back up the table, joint fourth on goal difference with two games in hand. The seven wonder goals came from Fatty (3), Muf (2), Mel (1) and Kate (1) but everyone played a part so well done to Jen, Barker, Donna, Pete, Claudette, Anna, Nitsa, Jane, Lucy and Zsuzi. PoM was awarded unanimously to Mel for her cracking performance (sorry…) and we all wish her a speedy recovery. Thanks again to the supporters and also to Flamingos for all their help with Mel’s injury. We now face a tough game at home against Fulham on Sunday with many players missing. However, if we play like we did on Sunday we will give them a good game. Well done everyone! Emma Pearson

18th February Merton 9 - 2 Peckham Village (league) (Away) Scorers: fatty 2, Muffy 2, Mel 2, Anna, O.G 2 Report: A much needed win for the ladies team saw them beat Peckham 9-2. Despite scoring first the ladies were caught out at the back as Peckham broke through in the first half resulting in 2 quick goals to give the visitors a 2-1 advantage and the home side a quick wake up call. Merton soon found their feet and with some excellent play coming from midfield and the forwards the goals soon started firing in. Merton goal scorers Fatty (2), Muffy (2), Mel (2), Anna (1) plus 2 og. This should lift spirits prior to an important cup tie against Clapham next Sunday. Thanks to Alex for reffing and the usual fan club! Jen Burr
25th March Merton 0 - 14 Flamingoes (league) (Home) Report: A disappointing result for the women but huge well done to the small team of brave women that took on the Mighty Flamingoes! An excellent effort by all but Jen just Pete pipped for POM. A tough game away to Tooting and Mitcham on Sunday but if we show the spirit we did on Sunday afternoon then we will give them a tough game. Emma Pearson
1st April Merton 4 - 5 Tooting & Mitcham (League) (Away) Scorers: Fatty 4 Report: We were unlucky to not come away with a point from this game after a great performance. At the end of the first half, 3 goals down and Katie picking up our first yellow card for several years, it wasn’t looking good. However in the second half with only 8 players we managed to battle back to 3-3 with a superb Fatty hat-trick. Tooting then managed to put another past us, but it was Fatty again who brought us level again. Unfortunately they managed to score a 5th towards the end of the game and we couldn’t manage another comeback. It was a fantastic performance by everybody, but the MOM had to go to Fatty.
