Five games played today, and a few draws to tell you about. The 1s drew 2-2 at HSBC, with Jamie scoring both goals, and the tireless George Brobbey providing both assists. Pictured are Jamie and Harrison – MOTM and DOTD respectively. Harrison now safely tucked up in bed, we hear.
2s beat Weirside Rangers 3 – 0, while the 3s had the result of the day with a 2-1 win. Neal and Denys were among the goals in a great team effort. The 4s had no game. The 5s drew 2-2, with a brace from Dulanie and an assist for Andy. Josh was MOTM and our Merton Way editor Luke won the other ‘prize’. The 6s played out a 1-1 draw, with the returning Daban getting on the scoresheet. Tom Johnson with a well-deserved MOTM award, but 4s skipper Ed was voted DOTD. An unbeaten day for Merton.

Decent training session last night. Stand by for some videos of the skipping….

Couple of victories to tell you about today, starting up top with the 1s, who bagged an impressive 3-2 win. Star of the show was Jamie Cross (pictured below) who assisted one goal, and scored another of his own making. George notched up a goal too. Also pictured with Jamie is Josh Connolly, who secured the DOTD award for a missed pen.

The 2s went down 5-3 in an end-to-end thriller, with Glenn getting a brace and Dan Rist scoring the other. 3s lost 3-1, with MOTM Aaron Byrne getting the goal. The 4s suffered a 4-1 defeat, with Nick Englefield the only man to get on the scoresheet. The 5s lost a tight game 2-1, but good to see Darren Avey representing the Defenders Union with a well-taken goal. And incredibly after last week’s shambles, the 6s kept a clean sheet! Not only that, but they scored 3 too – all of them tucked away by Lewis Riches who keeps the match ⚽️. Well done lads!

Some pics from the Hood A cracking win for the 1s but great in the bar with the 2s coming back from the early kick off and the 3s giving it some too.

Questionable fashion sense in the Hood yesterday once again. Here we have Jimbo and Scott with matching spikes in their barnet. And the denim/sheepskin look is gathering momentum, with Mustard and Harrison rocking it this week😒 Wonderful scenes in the bar as usual though!

It’s a triple 30th birthday celebration today in the Merton 5s. Many Merton returns to Tiago, Dwayne and Andy. Good luck today gents!

Only a few games today, but still good vibes at the Hood. The 4s continue their good run with a 1-1 draw – the returning Mikey Elgar with the goal. The 5s went down 4-1, with Tiago the sole man to get onto the scoresheet. As for the 6s, they scored 4 goals, courtesy of a brace each from captain DG and Darren Fitz. Unfortunately the oppo managed to stick 7 in the ole onion bag. Not a day for the keepers. Pictured are Ryan Burchell and his older brother Ivan, sporting some cutting-edge dad fashion. Good of Vanny to wear his Halloween mask too. Also pictured is Lyndon receiving his DOTD award for wearing tights

Results a bit mixed again this week.

1s had a rather fruitless trip up North to Finchleans, going down 3-0. Their fearless leader was voted DOTD, while Max Carveth was the man of the day by virtue of being the least rubbish.

2s ground out an excellent 1-0 over Old Blues here at the Hood – Josh scoring in the 82nd minute. Woody put in a commanding performance for MOTM.

The 3s went down in another thriller 4-3; Vin voted MOTM, with one of the 4 Sams (Britney Speirs) being adjudged the DOTD. They were actually 4-0 down, but goals from Vin, Sam K and Aaron B pulled em back into it.

The 4s drew 1-1 – Dom Plumridge with the goal and Gubby with the MOTM award.

The 5s went down disappointingly 2-0 at home to Actonians. In a stunning turnaround, Dwayne went from DOTD to MOTM, while Pete was unfortunate to go the other way.

Pictured are these two, and also Haydn, who failed to say “EJ”. Do check out the videos which resulted from that transgression

Today’s results make for better reading than last week. The 1s led from the front with a 2-0 win over Ibis. George B scored a goal he set up himself, and assisted Vanny, who put away the other. New boy Jamie Cross bagged the MOTM honours – James Gray with the opposite of that. The 2s went down 4-1 at home to Poly, with Gibbo scoring the goal. Pictured are Wilgo and Haydn – DOTD and MOTM respectively. The 3s lost a 3-2 thriller against Actonians, with goals from Billy Lane and Sam Slater. Iain gamely donned the gloves, with Neal voted MOTM. The 4s enjoyed a thumping 7-1 win over City of London, with Denys helping himself to a hat-trick⚽️. Goals too for Roman, Callum and the two Andrews (Stears and Minkovich). The 5s had no game, while the 6s lost 5-1 to HSBC. Their fearless leader Dave added another goal to his tally; Dobson banking the MOTM award, and Steve Burchell (pictured) doing enough to secure the DOTD gong.

Today’s results 22.09.18
A wet and miserable day for Merton. No wins, 2 draws and two teams knocked out of cup competitions.

A slightly disappointing set of results today so far. Top spot though goes to Dave Golding’s 6s whose oppo cried off on Thursday and so we had a walk over into the next round.
Down at the Hood the 1s lost 1-0 to HSBC with a Harrison own goal. George MOM Harrison an unsurprising DOTD

5s lost 2-1 with Pete Obang -Edu getting the goal and Scott Brown MOM.(Pic + pics from the Hood)
