Youth Results Today – |A mixed bag U10s lost 4-1 to Rocks Lane. U11s won 13-2 against Mitcham Park Juniors. U12s won 1-0 against Carshalton Athletic. U13s lost 3-1 aginst Stoneleigh Athletic . Its a familiar story but they dominated the game that they lost. It is all part of growing up. Tell Clappers about it!!!

Today’s news from the Hood. 1s beat Old Sals away 3-2 in cup. (Scorers – Liam Stevens, DQ, Tills). 2s draw at home to Old Finchleians. Great strike from Darcy seemed to have won the game but 10 man OFs rallied after their GK was sent off and scored a last gasp equaliser with great free kick. 3s drew 1-1 with EBOG and missed a pen. 4s lost a Cup match 5-3 to Old Lyons. The 5 lose 3 – 1 away to South Bank Cuaco.  The 6s beat Civil Service 9s 5 – 1 a great team performance, defended well and took the goals well.

Great Day for Youth section on a big Cup day. U10s lost 3-2 to Wallington Wanderers. U11s won 6-1 against Raynes Park Vale. U13s drew 2-2 with top of the table Motspur Park. In the Cups. U12s won 10-3 against Cheam Sports. U14s with the performance of the day beat Met Police Reds 3-1. Well done to all the lads and especially for Nick and the U14s with a great performance and result to kick start their season.

Saturday 10th October results

The first team hosted Polytechnic in the AFA Senior Cup, they are 2nd in the 1st Division so was always going to be a tough game.  They managed to hold them to 1 – 1 draw and take them all the way to penalties drawing 3 – 3 after extra time.  Unfortunately lost to Poly in the penalty shot out 5 – 3.

The 2s where also in a cup away to South Bank Cuaco in the ISEH Intermediate Cup.  South Bank who are a league below managed to get to the next round beating the 2s 5 – 3.

The 3s played South bank Cuaco 3s at home beating them 4 – 0, a good win and a clean sheet for a Merton keeper.

The 4s were also in a cup game who played Old Tiffinians 3s away in the AFA Minor Cup.  Goals from Dulaine, penalty from Dodds and final goal from Kelvin beat them 3 -1 and a place in the next round.

The 5s lost away to Civil Service 6s, 8 – 1 after going down to 10 men after 2 minutes into the first half.

The 6s played Old Blues 4s away, losing 2 – 0 in the Junior Novets Cup.

Merton Youth teams in action today. The U10s win 8-4 against AFC Walcountians. U11s no game this weekend, U12s lose 4-2 against Twickenham Turbos. U13s win 6-1 against Croygas Town in the cup (MOM was Rafael, and Chris got another hatrick 2 in 2 games ) and the U14s lost 5-1 against Kew Park Rangers.

Saturday results – only a point gained this weekend.  1s drew a game they dominated at Old Easthameians 2-2 but came from 2-0 down. Goals scored by the Gladkows. Really good performance not reflected in the scoreline.  The 2s didn’t have a fixture.  The 3s had a long trek to Old Parkonians, losing 5 – 1. 4s, 5s and 6s all played at the Hood with all 3 pitches now in action.  The 4s lost 2 – 1 To HSBC 5s, the 5s played a lot better than last week only losing 2 – 0, a much better team performance. The 6s also played a lot better than their last game but lost 3 – 1 to Civil Service 8s. All good games and good in the bar afterwards with Footy and the Rugby but not a good result there either.

Sunday Morning down at the Hood. Lovely day with the Church group giving away hot drinks and cakes. U14s oppo cried off but boys trained and posed for team pic. U13s had a friendly beating Croydon 3-1 With Chris getting a hat trick and MOM and Performance of the weekend and also had team pic. U12s were training. U11s beat Epsom and Ewell Colts 3-1 U10s beat Mitcham Park Junior Colts 10 – 0 with two of the boys Jamal and Harry getting hat tricks.

This Saturday at Joseph Hood – ‪Merton‬ 4s, 5s and 6s are all at home so plenty to come down and support or play in! Afterwards – it is do or die for ENGLAND v AUSTRALIA in the rugby world cup! Merton’s bar is open with pizzas and FREE shots for ENGLAND TRY’s – so watch it at the hood for the first drinks session of the season! See you there!

Sunday morning at the Hood and what a cracking time. U13s beat Raynes Park Vale 3-2, U 10s lost 3-1 to a very strong Motspur Park side. U12s beat Twickenham Tigers 5-1 and U11s were leading 5-1 when i left . U 14s away in Whitton. A real tonic after yesterday Well done.

U14s lost at Whitton 5-2 (H-T 1-1)with a great battlin performance. They can build on this. Well done boys and Nick and thanks to the parents for their support.

1s lost 1-0 to Weirside Rangers, Defeat was a little unfortunate. Arturs saved a pen but they got to the rebound. We had our chances and shots but definitely not our day. But good performance.

Joe Griffin bags Man Most Handsome over Ben Cook in a closely fought contest. Just like the match, in fact, which Team Handsome lost 1-0 on a lovely, brave, sunny day…

The 4s draw 3 -3 at home against Weirside Rangers

5s lost 4-1 (H-T 1-1) to the newly formed Ibis Eagles but lots of positives to take from the game.
